THE MBES DIFFERENCE

Why stitch together a pile of separate study apps?

MBES is not trying to win every individual category. Its advantage is that the major parts of board-exam preparation live around the same profile, exam, materials, sessions, goals, schedule, and progress.

MBES

One exam-centered environment where practice, planning, consistency, and study content are designed to stay connected.

EXPLORE THE SYSTEM

Click a feature. See what it really does.

This is the full-detail catalog view: quick enough to scan, but every major system expands into a proper explanation.

🎯Quiz & Drill SimulatorCourses, decks, questions, sessions, mistakes, history+

What it does

Run structured review sessions from organized courses, subjects, folders, and decks. MBES preserves the full quiz workflow: start, answer, next, pause, resume, complete, historical statistics, and mistakes.

Why it matters

Your practice engine is not isolated from the rest of your review. Session activity can feed Planner goals, measured study activity, streak qualification, and review history.

GoalsStreaksHistory
📚Course Library & Study ContentNotes, Reviewer, Formulas, Quick Reference, Laws & Standards, Starter Packs+

Not only questions

MBES can hold different study-material types beside your quiz decks: Notes, structured Reviewer cards, Formula references, Quick Reference material, Laws & Standards, and Starter Packs.

Organization

Content can follow your Study Profile and course structure so a board-review profile does not need to become one giant mixed library.

ProfilesCoursesImport
🧮Technical Formula & Worked-Example SystemKaTeX math, engineering units, structured Given panel+

Built for technical review

Formula content supports proper mathematical rendering and a unified worked-example presentation rather than treating equations as plain text.

Solution flow

  • Given / known quantities
  • Formula selection
  • Substitution
  • Calculation
  • Final result / explanation
📥Import & Content CreationJSON paste, multi-file import, deck workflows+

Bring your own material

MBES supports JSON paste and multi-file import workflows so you can build from existing review material instead of typing everything manually.

Safety direction

The roadmap emphasizes duplicate prevention, per-file results, malformed-content handling, target-course preservation, and mobile/tablet file-picker behavior.

🤖AI-Assisted Study ToolsAI Generator, Prompt Commands, AI Tutor, Deep Dive, BYOK-friendly workflow+

Current study workflow

MBES has AI-assisted material generation and tutoring/deep-dive tools alongside manual import and local study features.

Why BYOK matters

The product direction lets users supply supported provider credentials instead of requiring an MBES subscription merely to expose an AI button. External provider charges or quotas can still apply.

GeneratorTutorDeep Dive
👤Study ProfilesMultiple exams or study contexts, one active profile at a time+

Separate study worlds

Create distinct profiles for board/licensure review, school/semester subjects, entrance exams, professional certifications, custom setups, or Explore Without Setup.

Profile-aware data

Profiles can separate subjects, folders, decks, progress, sessions, goals, assessment dates, notifications, and recommendations. Existing matching-course content can also be safely reused without sharing progress.

📅Exam Planner & CountdownExam date, availability, intensity, strengths, weaknesses+

Plan around reality

Define the exam timeline, weekly availability, study intensity, subject priorities, strengths, and weaknesses instead of using a generic checklist detached from your review data.

Connected planning

Plans are the parent context for goals, schedules, reminders, countdowns, and consistency. The system is designed to recommend—not guarantee—outcomes.

🎯Custom Goals & TargetsQuestions, study time, formulas, topics, mocks, mistakes, custom metrics+

Measurable targets

  • Total questions before the exam
  • Daily / weekly question targets
  • Study-time targets
  • Formula-card review
  • Topic completion
  • Mock-exam targets
  • Mistake review
  • Custom numeric goals

Tracking

Reliable activities can update goals automatically; other targets can use manual or hybrid progress. Goals have lifecycle controls such as edit, pause, resume, complete, archive, reset, and delete.

🗓️Adaptive Study SchedulePhases, rest days, buffer days, task linking, missed-work redistribution+

Schedule engine

Uses the active Study Profile, Exam Plan, availability, strengths, weaknesses, completed activity, and goals to recommend daily and weekly workload.

User control

Schedules support phases, rest/buffer/catch-up concepts, editable workload/tasks, locked items, rebuild previews, and explicit missed-work redistribution instead of silently moving work.

🔥Meaningful Study StreaksCurrent streak, longest streak, qualifying activity, rest-day awareness+

Not “opened the app = studied”

Study consistency is derived from meaningful profile-specific activity. Opening MBES alone must not extend the streak, and the same activity should not count twice.

Designed around a plan

The system tracks current and longest streaks, qualifying dates, consistency history, and rest-day-aware behavior. Streak totals remain derived rather than manually editable.

ProfilePlanActivity
🔔Reminder Center & NotificationsRecurring reminders, snooze, quiet hours, history, honest browser capability+

Reminder types

Plan-, goal-, schedule-, exam-, and custom reminders can be one-time or recurring, with snooze, dismiss, complete, pause, resume, archive, delete, and occurrence history.

Notification honesty

Optional browser notifications are permission-based and the product explicitly avoids promising reliable closed-app/background delivery when that is not technically guaranteed. Quiet hours are supported.

Motivation & Optional Bible-Reference ModeSupportive messaging without guilt-driven engagement+

User choice

Motivation can use general messages, optional Bible-reference content, combinations, or no motivation depending on the user's preference.

Design rule

Religious content is opt-in, motivation never creates study progress, and the language is intentionally non-shaming and non-manipulative.

💾Local-First Guest Mode & BackupCore studying without a mandatory account+

Guest Mode stays first-class

When signed out, offline, or when account services are unavailable, MBES is designed to keep local courses/decks, quizzes, sessions, history, imports, Library content, Profiles, Planner, goals, schedules, streaks, reminders, motivation, backup/restore, Settings, and Help usable.

No silent cloud takeover

Account and cloud features are not allowed to silently upload, delete, or overwrite local Guest data. Local study access remains a product rule.

☁️Account, Auth & Secure Cloud FoundationEmail verification, sign-in, recovery, encryption-oriented cloud architecture+

Account foundation

The production architecture includes email/password account creation, verification, sign-in/sign-out, password recovery/reset, session handling, protected backend boundaries, and Supabase-based Auth/database/storage foundations.

Security direction

Cloud work is built around Row Level Security, private storage, client-side encryption, explicit backup/restore decisions, conflict-safe synchronization, and no plaintext cloud dataset. Deeper commercial cloud convenience is still separated from the core local study experience.

🎨Themes, Typography & AccessibilityMultiple themes, font options, sizing, colorblind filters, responsive Classic UI+

Personalization

The current Classic interface preserves theme, typography, font-size, colorblind-filter, and responsive behavior as separate preferences from study data.

Responsive principle

Desktop, tablet, and mobile remain one shared MBES engine. Future layouts are planned to change presentation—not silently rewrite content.

COMING NEXT: HOME DAILY PULSE

Make progress visible before the course grid.

A preview of the next MBES Home direction: surface consistency and motivation first, then provide one obvious route into the deeper Planner and Study Consistency tools.

CONCEPT — NOT YET RELEASED
🔥 7 day streak

Meaningful study activity keeps the streak alive. Planned rest days can stay neutral.

DAILY MOTIVATION
“Consistency compounds long before the result becomes obvious.”

Preview content only. The production view uses the existing MBES motivation system and the user's selected motivation mode.

MARKET COMPARISON

MBES is not “better at everything.” Its advantage is the combination.

These comparisons are deliberately fair: each competitor gets credit for what it does well, then MBES shows where its board-exam workflow is structurally different.

MBES CORE
Exam planning & goals

Planner, measurable targets, schedule logic, countdown, and consistency are treated as core study functionality rather than an isolated premium scheduler.

Local-first Guest Mode

MBES CORE
Technical Library

Reviewer content, formulas, references, laws/standards, and quiz materials belong to one study system.

AI access without an MBES unlock fee

Supported BYOK workflows can use your own provider setup. Provider charges and limits can still apply.

BUILT FROM A REAL REVIEW PROBLEM

Why I built MBES.

I originally built MBES because I wanted one place for my board-exam questions, formulas, reviewers, progress, and study planning. What started as a simple exam simulator kept growing because every time I needed another study tool, I kept asking myself: why should this have to be another app?

So I started connecting the pieces instead—practice sessions, study materials, technical formulas, planning, goals, streaks, reminders, motivation, and eventually accounts and cloud features. MBES grew from an actual problem I had as a student: my review workflow was scattered.

The goal is not to replace every great study app at what it does best. The goal is to give board-exam students one place where the whole review process can work together.

— KingKaizen, creator of MBES
MASTER BOARD EXAM SIMULATOR

Built by a student who wanted the board-review workspace he couldn't find.

Not another isolated flashcard clone. Not another planner detached from your practice data. Not another AI button pretending to be a full study system. MBES is being built around the entire review process.
